Avec la pandémie tout change, alors pourquoi pas faire les choses un peu différemment ?

Dans cet article je vous propose un petit tour de ce qui s’est passé dans mon sketchbook ces derniers mois, de façon plus déconstruite. J’espère que ça sera plus « authentique » et informatif de cette façon…? Allons-y donc !

À la fin de l’hiver 2020, le confinement était bien loin de nos esprits au Canada. Ça a été des mois plutôt importants et occupés pour moi. J’ai eu des supers beaux contrats (il y en a un en particulier dont j’ai très hâte de parler !) et je travaillais à temps plein. Dans ces temps-là, je n’ai ouvert mes carnets d’esquisses que pour réviser des poses, travailler des aspects spécifiques des illustrations.

Je travaille surtout en numérique, et quand ça bloque, je trouve que gribouiller sur une page de papier à côté, ça aide !

 

Comme pour beaucoup de monde, la pandémie a créé un grand espace un peu étrange dans mon emploi du temps. Est-ce que ça a été votre cas ?

Avec le temps libéré, des dessins sur le pifs, juste avec l’inspiration.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, everything changes, so why not do things a little differently?

In this article, I’ll give you guys a little tour of my sketchbook drawings of the last few months in a more deconstructed way than usual. Hopefully, it’ll be a bit more authentic and also informative in this way…? Anyways, let’s hop into it !

 

At the end of this winter, confinement was far from our minds in the part of Canada where I live. These were pretty busy and important months for me. I got wonderful contracts (there is one in particular I can’t wait to talk about!) and I was working full-time. During this period, there wasn’t much time to draw for fun, so I opened my sketchbooks mostly to work on some hard poses and tricky parts of the illustrations I was working on.

Professionally, I mostly work digitally. So, when I’m blocked on something, I feel like getting away from the screen and working things out on paper helps a lot.

 

As for many people, the confinement (which happened at the end of March over here) created a weird, big, empty space in my schedule. Was this the case for you?

With this free-time, I did have time to draw « for fun ».
